ADNeT Newsletter July 2026

Welcome to the latest edition of the ADNeT newsletter.

This has been a landmark few months for dementia research and care in Australia. We hosted our biggest-ever Australian Dementia Research Forum, the World Health Organization released its first major update to global dementia prevention guidelines in seven years, and we’ve launched a new one-stop resource for families and clinicians navigating the latest disease-modifying therapies for Alzheimer’s disease.

The WHO’s updated guidelines are particularly significant – for the first time, we have clear, evidence-based direction showing that addressing modifiable risk factors could prevent or delay up to 45% of dementia cases. There are some genuinely surprising findings in there, which we unpack in this edition.

We’re also excited to open applications for the ADNeT EMCR Accelerator Group Sponsorship Program. If you’re an early or mid-career researcher, this is a fantastic opportunity to connect with senior mentors and build meaningful career pathways in dementia research. More details can be found in the EMCR section of the website.

As always, we hope you find this edition informative and valuable. You can view the newsletter here or scroll through the News section on the ADNeT website.
