Biography
Dr Amanda Cross is an NHMRC Emerging Leader research fellow at the Centre for Medicine Use and Safety, Monash University. Prior to taking up her present appointment, Dr Cross worked as a research fellow in dementia at Monash University and a research fellow with the Australian and New Zealand Musculoskeletal Clinical Trials Network (ANZMUSC), Cabrini Institute. Dr Cross completed her PhD with Monash University in 2019 focussing on optimising medication use and medication management in older people with cognitive impairment.

Dr Cross’ research interests primarily relate to medicine safety and quality use of medicines in older people, particularly those at risk of developing dementia or who are currently living with dementia. She has published >35 articles in scientific journals and her work is frequently profiled in the professional and public media. Amanda is also a chief investigator on three large Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) projects, two evaluating novel models of knowledge translation in aged care and one developing medication management resources for people living with dementia.

Dr Cross continues to practice in a clinical role as a pharmacist.
