From the Director, Prof. Chris Rowe

Welcome to our August issue of the ADNeT Newsletter.

COVID-19 continues to play havoc with everybody’s lives, in particular, for those of us located in Victoria.

From a research perspective, COVID has had a deep impact on matters such as our ability to screen patients and coordinate work across state boundaries. Despite this, work continues apace on our three major initiatives: the establishment of the first national clinical registry for dementia (ADNeT Dementia Registry); the screening and trials initiative and our memory clinics initiative. Read more about them below.

The Australian Dementia Forum conference will go ahead in 2021, albeit in a virtual format. The scientific program committee made this decision, in response to the uncertainty of the COVID situation until a vaccine is available, and against the background of wanting to share the many and very interesting developments in the area of Dementia research and treatment with scientists and clinicians.  The scientific program committee is working on the framework for the conference and will be calling for submissions shortly.
