ADNeT NEWS – February 2025

Welcome to the first edition of the ADNeT newsletter for 2025!

It was an exciting end to 2024 with the release the Australian National Dementia Action Plan (NDAP). It is a great step forwarding to setting solid goals for the future of dementia diagnosis, treatment, care and, critically, research. The vital role the ADNeT Registry plays in collecting national data on persons newly diagnosed with dementia or mild cognitive impairment was acknowledged in the Plan, as was the ADNeT Memory Clinics Network- we are very proud of the work achieved by these initiatives to improve dementia diagnosis and post-diagnostic care. ADNeT’s webinars were also highlighted as a useful training and educational resource.

We congratulate ADNeT Memory Clinics Co-Lead Professor Sharon Naismith on receiving a Member of the Order of Australia award for her significant service to neuropsychology, particularly dementia, through medical research and clinical practice. She has done tremendous work both in her career and leading our Memory Clinics iniative.

Dementia research in Australia is at a turning point, with groundbreaking new treatments and diagnostic tools on the horizon. Building on our success to date, ADNeT is seeking to now expand our programs around Australia. Your donation can help accelerate progress to earlier diagnosis and access to innovative treatments, bringing hope to over 430,000 Australians impacted by this disease. You can support our vital research today and be part of the future of dementia diagnosis, treatment and care.

You can read the latest news and updates in the News section of our website. I hope you will find it informative.
