ADNeT seeks participants for groundbreaking blood-based biomarkers study

The Australian Dementia Network (ADNeT) is pioneering a new research initiative aimed at examining the potential for Alzheimer’s disease (AD) to be diagnosed and managed in primary care. The Blood-Based Biomarkers for Alzheimer’s Disease in Primary Care Project will explore the clinical application of innovative blood tests that detect biomarkers for Alzheimer’s, such as amyloid-beta, tau proteins, and neurofilament light (NfL).

ADNeT is looking for participants with memory or cognitive decline who wish to get a blood test for Alzheimer’s disease and contribute to the study by visiting one of these participating clinics. Importantly, the study will assess how new blood biomarkers can enhance diagnostic confidence, streamline patient pathways and support earlier intervention.

The study is currently underway in Melbourne, Adelaide and Newcastle with hopes to scale the project nationally in the future.
